Meet the Instructors

Retta Zumpone
Retta ZumponeB.S., M.A. – Certified Physical Educator, Dancer, Choreographer, Coach, Fitness Guide and certified “Flirty Girl” Instructor
Retta’s main areas of concentration are: Ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, belly dance, afrolatino and Bollywood dance forms. With over 20 years of teaching experiences in the health and fitness industry– in both education and recreational settings, Retta truly shares her love for music, dance, aerobics, and overall wellness with everyone: from school-age children to senior citizens. Her aim is to help everyone find the fun in fitness and to urge out the tiny dancer within us all.

Retta uses simple step by step instruction and encourages you to find the motivation necessary to allow your heart to dance– so you can let your body follow.

Erika Collins
Erika CollinsBS in Adult Health and Fitness from Bloomsburg University
Erika has always had a passion for recreation. She loves to move! She encourages those around her to find some sort of movement that they enjoy: whether it is swimming, dancing, Pilates, or yoga… just move your body! Not only does movement have numerous health benefits, it makes you FEEL GREAT!

Erika graduated from Bloomsburg University with a BS in Adult Health and Fitness. Currently, she is a certified Starguard Instructor, Starfish Program Facilitator, CPR and First Aid Instructor, Zumba and Zumba Gold Certified, Flirty Girl Certified, and IFPAcertified (International Fitness Professional Association). Wellness and Aquatics are the main fields that Erika has a passion for. She loves teaching children the lifelong skill of swimming, and she loves instructing and guiding lifeguards to become the best they can be.

Erika enjoys motivating and encouraging others on their wellness paths and she firmly believes: “Fitness is a journey, not a destination– so never stop moving!”

Alyssa Scheunemann
Alyssa ScheunemannYoga & Instructor
Alyssa began practicing yoga about 20 years ago in NYC while studying for her BFA in photography at NYU. She received Jivamukti’s intensive 300hr certification
directly from Sharon Gannon and David Life in 2003 and Jivamukti’s rigorous 800hr
certification in 2004. She has been teaching for over 12 years, including several years at
Jivamukti’s flagship studio in NYC, as well as around the U.S., and abroad. In addition to
her certifications, Alyssa has studied extensively in both Indian and Tibetan Buddhist
traditions, traveling to India and studying with The Dalai Lama. She has received initiation in both Indian and Tibetan traditions and has completed several silent solitary meditation retreats. Alyssa is well versed in both the physical and philosophical aspects of the practice and is adept teaching beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. Alyssa’s classes draw from her own deep practice, feature carefully crafted playlists, masterful hands-on assists, intelligent sequencing and equally deft alignment cues. These elements come together to provide students with a deep and satisfying practice.
Peg Harris
Peg HarrisCertified Pilates Instructor
The Power Pilates Method entered into Peg’s life approximately 10 years ago, and she truly fell in love with the program. She decided in 2007 that she wanted to teach the Pilates Method. Peg’s first certification was a Power Pilates mat Class, and in 2008 she became certified in Intermediate Mat. Then, onto the equipment! Joseph Pilates invented many tools to help make the body stronger: Reformer, Cadillac, Barrels, Chair, etc. Peg is certified in the Power Pilates Comprehensive Apparatus Program– including beginner, intermediate and advanced movements.

Alicia Urban
Alicia UrbanDharma Mittra School of Yoga
Alicia received her certification in Personal Training and Pilates in 2005, and then she completed yoga training from the Dharma Mittra School of Yoga in Raleigh, NC in 2006. Her yoga style is traditional Vinyasa, but she is greatly influenced by the physical demands of Ashtanga and spiritual teachings of Jivamukti.

Alicia’s dedication to teaching and practicing yoga is what drives her to encourage students to have fun, challenge themselves, and explore the mind-body connection.

Kimberly Matthew
Kimberly MatthewBS in Recreation and Leisure Services, Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Certified Qi Gong Instructor, Certified Yoga Instructor
Kimberly’s discovery of yoga helped her to live better in her body. In 1997, she became a Kripalu certified Yoga teacher so she could share her passion for yoga and meditation with others. Kimberly has a BS in Recreation and Leisure Services from E.S.U., and she has worked in the resort fitness setting for 20 years. She is also a certified AEA Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and a certified Qi Gong Instructor. In addition to teaching fitness, Kimberly also enjoys kayaking, visiting all the National Parks, skiing and figure skating.

Kimberly’s goal is to help her students focus on their inner landscape so they too can live better in their bodies. Life is all about enjoying a joyful journey!

 Nicole Marrero
Nicole MarreroAFFA Certified Personal Trainer & Fitness Instructor
Nicole has been a fitness and “foodie” enthusiast for as long as she can remember! Her love of being active started as a little girl, playing sports such as swimming and track and field. A mother of two, she is always implementing her passion for food and fitness to her children and those around her. “ Being healthy is not a hobby, it is a way of life. I am continuously educating myself to be the best version of me, mind, body, and spirit.”

Having experience in the nutritional field, Nicole recently became a Certified Personal Trainer through AFAA, and is excited to start the next phase of her professional journey. Ready to spread the joy of exercise and feeling good, Nicole will be available for personal training and group fitness classes

Diane Sherkow
Diane SherkowFitness Instructor
Diane Sherkow is a mother to two sons, a daughter-in-love and two grandsons. She swam before she could walk in the ocean in Hollywood Beach, FL, where, 20 years later, she became the first female lifeguard.

She is trained through Water Art and previously taught water aerobics part time at a Navy base in MD. She moved to Lake Ariel upon retirement from working for the Navy.

Marcia Knisley
Marcia KnisleyAFAA Certified Primary Group Exercise Instructor and Fitour Certified: Aqua Instructor, Myofascial Release Foam Roller, and Yoga Instructor
Marcia Knisely has been a fitness instructor at Woodloch Springs Sports Complex since 2006. She began her fitness journey as a member at the Complex and became so fascinated with the fitness journey that she became a certified instructor. Her favorite classes to teach are gentle yoga and water aerobics. She is also a social dancer and specializes in Lindy Hop, Charleston, Fusion, and Blues. Marcia is an accomplished musician and certified music educator. She teaches music at the Wallenpaupack Area School District and holds degrees from West Chester University and VanderCook College of Music.

Marcia enjoys building personal relationships with her fitness students and guiding them to be gentle with their minds, bodies, and spirits.

Calina Knash
Calina KnashPersonal Trainer
Calina loves helping people better their lives through exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. In 2009 she graduated from Bloomsburg University with her B.S. in Exercise Science and has made her Corrective Exercise and Personal Training her passion ever since.

She holds multiple certifications such as NASM CPT, NASM Golf Specific Exercise CPT, TRX Certified Instructor and has her NASM specialization in Corrective and Rehabilitative Exercise. Over the past 10 years she has built her career working with a wide variety of individuals at fitness facilities on both the east and west coasts along with a well-established Chiropractic office in San Diego. Calina is happy to be back in the area now to continue her passion at the Woodloch Springs Sports Complex.

Jennifer Berglund
Jennifer BerglundGroup Fitness Instructor
Jennifer has enjoyed working in the fitness field for 13 + years. Whether it’s teaching a fitness class, personal training, or just talking with members, she loves everything about this field! The gym is her second family. When she is not at the gym, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, and stand-up paddle boarding. She enjoys just about anything that is done outdoors.

She loves Les Mills BodyPump and has been teaching these classes for over 12 years. She hopes to see you her class.

Rob Sanders
Rob SandersGroup Fitness Instructor
Rob started in the fitness industry at “Living Well Fitness Center” in Scranton, PA in 1988. Falling in love with the fitness industry he moved on to the Gold Coast of Long Island where he has a unique privilege of working with many artists in the music industry. He worked in many clubs in the area as a Personal Trainer and Kickboxing Instructor.

Moving to Charleston, SC in 2011, Rob worked for high end facilities within the friendly city. Over the years Rob has earned over 30 Certified Personal Training Certifications that include Sports Conditioning and Kickboxing. Rob found his way back to PA and is proud to be teaching Kickboxing at the Woodloch Springs Sports Complex.

Melissa Monte
Melissa MonteZumba, Aqua Zumba, Zumba Toning, Zumba Sentao, Strong by Zumba Instructor
About 11 years ago, Melissa took her first Zumba class and fell in love. The music and the moves compelled her to get certified and for the last 10 years, Melissa has been teaching Zumba and its specialties (with her absolute favorite being Aqua Zumba). When not teaching, Melissa challenges herself by cross-training and traveling to different cities and states to run long distances. She has completed the Philly ½ Marathon (2018), the Rock and Roll New Orleans ½ Marathon (2019), the Atlantic City ½ Marathon (2019), the Rock and Roll Las Vegas ½ Marathon (2019) as well as the Broad Street 10 Miler (2017, 2018 and 2019).
In addition to being a Zumba Instructor, Melissa is a College and Career Counselor at Wallenpaupack Area High School. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Cabrini University (Radnor, PA), a Masters in Teaching from St. Peter’s University (Jersey City, NJ) and a Masters in School Counseling from Marywood University (Scranton, PA).
